Kimberton Fair is going on now through Saturday, with all the details below. Friday brings live music at the Colonial and a fundraiser at the Rec Room, so there is plenty to pick from if you are heading out. Consider starting your Saturday with a meditation class before wandering over to Inside Out in town. Then close out the weekend with a pre-screening seminar on Blow Out, which is a nice low key way to wrap things up. Overall, a good week around town, and a busy one. Let's get into it.
Here's what's happening.
The Bell
I mentioned the bell last week, but I messaged Ryan Conroy, our local town historian, and got a few more details for you all.
There's a bell in Reeves Park that most people used to walk right past. It was cast in 1859 and once rang for kids at the old Church Street School. Then in 1872 it cracked, and it sat outside for a while until it was moved to Reeves Park in 1904. It stayed there for over a hundred years and was used as a flower pot. This year the folks at Specialty Metals brought it back to life, and now it stands in the park in the first garden off Main St.
I'm putting together a video about the bell for Instagram, and I'd love to show the bell being used as a flower pot. If anyone has an old photo of the bell back when it was holding flowers in Reeves Park and you'd be willing to let me use it in one of my videos, send it my way. Full credit to you, of course. Featured Event
The Kimberton Community Fair has been running all week, but the last three nights are some of the best. Thursday brings The Mighty Manatees to the Main Stage, plus a Donut Eating Contest and dairy cattle judging. Friday closes with The Holts and a fireworks finale at 9:30. Saturday wraps things up with The Amigos, a Chicken BBQ fundraiser, and progressive jackpot Bingo.
Every night you'll find the carnival midway, those famous fresh donuts, the beer garden, and the competitive exhibits building open. Since 1929, this fair has celebrated the farms and families that make our corner of Chester County special, and it's a wonderful way to support the community. Come out and enjoy!
